383 Madison Avenue 383 Madison Avenue, formerly known as, the Bear Stearns Building, is an office building in New York City, located between 46th and 47th Streets. Designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, it is 237 meters (777 feet) tall with 47 floors. It was completed in 2001 and opened in 2002, at which time it was, by some reports, the 88th tallest building in the world. It housed the world headquarters for Bear Stearns, before JP Morgan Chase acquired the firm and this building. Currently it serves as an office for JP Morgan‘s Investment Banking Division. The building is designed as an octagonal-shaped tower rising from an eight-story square podium base. Clad in granite panels and glass, the tower culminates with a dramatic 70-foot glass crown that illuminates at night. The office floor plates are an octagon shape, achieving maximum efficiency and providing spectacular views. The building changed hands in 2008 during JP Morgan‘s takeover of Bear Stearns. On their second-quarter 2008 conference call, JP Morgan estimated the building‘s value at $1.1—1.4 billion.
Tonight, all it’s history, all of it’s worth, and all it stands for means nothing to fog. Tonight, fog owns 383 Madison Ave.
